Our wonderful music teacher, Ms. Heaton, has started teaching kids in their classrooms to reinstate the tradition of excellent music in our school! “The characteristics of a good musician are a well-trained ear, a well-trained mind, a well-trained heart and a well-trained hand. All four parts must develop together in constant equilibrium.” (Zoltán Kodály) Students are engaged in music literacy for academic achievement and quality of life. They are given opportunities for creative play and emotional expression. The activities promote classroom community connection and support academic excellence. Ms. Heaton focuses on the foundational skills of beat and rhythm, aural training, literacy skills, and exposure to great artists. We’re so excited to have her back in the classrooms!
