We invite you to join us on Monday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. for our Speaker Series event recognizing Native American Heritage month. The event will be on the PCSD Diversity & Equity Youtube channel.

The panelists for the evening are two former students from our district who graduated from Timpview High School. These two young adults are doing some incredible work advocating for our Native American communities. Please feel free to spread the word and invite others to tune in.

Serie de discursos de Nativos Americanos

Los invitamos a que nos acompañen el lunes 15 de noviembre a las 7:00 p.m. en nuestro evento de la Serie de Discursos reconociendo el mes de la Herencia Nativa Americana. El evento estará en el canal de Youtube de Diversidad y Equidad del PCSD.

Los panelistas de la noche son dos ex alumnos de nuestro distrito que se graduaron de la escuela Timpview High. Estos dos jóvenes adultos están haciendo un trabajo increíble abogando por nuestras comunidades nativas americanas. Por favor, no dude en compartir la palabra e invitar a otros a escuchar.

Erin Tapahe is Dine’ (Navajo) from Window Rock, Arizona. She graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) and received her degree in communications with an emphasis in news media and a minor in American Indian Studies. Tapahe is currently working for Tribal Business News as a breaking news reporter. She has written stories on Michelle Obama, former First Lady of the United States, Chris Wondolowski, Major League Soccer Player, who played on the 2014 FIFA World Cup team. She also co-authored a book on her experiences at the Standing Rock Movement in 2016. She has a strong passion in wanting to tell the stories of her people. Tapahe treasures her culture and is grateful for the learnings and traditions of her ancestors. Their sacrifices and strength has inspired her to continue their legacy.

Jacob Crane is a citizen of the Tsuut’ina Nation, located in the province of Alberta, Canada. He is currently the Executive Director for the SLC Air Protectors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Indigenous people in the State of Utah. As a Social Entrepreneur, Jacob enjoys building startup companies that positively impact Native communities. Like many, he wishes to see more conscious tribal investment for future generations, that also creates platforms to build stronger robust Indigenous economies. In 2019, Jacob was a recipient of the Running Strong for American Indian Youth Billy Mills Dreamstarter Entrepreneur grant for his work with his media production company, The Arrow’s Journey, which uplifts the stories of successful Indigenous youth. He was also a part of the Renewing Indigenous Economies Cohort with the Hoover Institute at Stanford University this past summer.

Jacob Crane es ciudadano de la Nación Tsuut’ina, situada en la provincia de Alberta, Canadá. Actualmente es el Director Ejecutivo de los Protectores del Aire de SLC, una organización sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a servir a los indígenas del Estado de Utah. Como empresario social, Jacob disfruta creando empresas de nueva creación que tienen un impacto positivo en las comunidades indígenas. Al igual que muchos, desea ver una inversión tribal más consciente para las generaciones futuras, que también cree plataformas para construir economías indígenas robustas más fuertes.
