Provo City School District

Canyon Crest Elementary School

Please see the following announcements.  Most of our announcements for this week come from our amazing PTA. Our PTA does SO much for our school – Thank you to our PTA!

1. School Board Election Forum – Wednesday, October 5 at 7:00pm

From our district PTA: Did you know that if you live in districts 1 or 2 you have a chance to vote for your school board member in November? Your school board member is responsible for approving the budget, hiring a new superintendent this year, establishing a calendar, and establishing policies and long-term rules. Don’t miss your chance to be an informed voter in the upcoming election by attending our PTA sponsored forum THIS WEDNESDAY at 7 PM at ROCK CANYON.  See the attachment for more information.

2. Fall Festival – Friday, October 7

From our PTA: Fall Festival is this week! – Friday, October 7 from 4:30pm-7:00pm. The weather is looking great and we are getting so excited. We still need some help so please, please sign up if you can!

The pizza/drink combo will be PRE-ORDER ONLY this year so make sure to purchase that on the memberhub store ahead of time if you want to have pizza at Fall Festival this year.

3. Walk to School Day – Wednesday, October 5

From our PTA: Wednesday, October 5th is National Walk and Bike to School Day! We’ll have a small reward outside the main front doors to hand out to all students who walk, bike, or scooter to school that day. If you live too far away, or in an area without a good, safe route to have your child(ren) walk the whole way, consider driving them most of the way and have them walk the last few blocks to school! Coordinate with neighbors! Make it fun (and safe, of course)!!!

4. PTA Hispanic Heritage Month Activities

From our PTA: For National Hispanic Heritage Month, the PTA will host trivia games at Lunch and Recess. This Friday, we welcome students to dress to represent Hispanic Heritage. This means students can wear traditional clothes, sports jerseys, or anything that represents Hispanic Heritage such as the color of a Spanish-speaking country’s flag.  Please be aware that your child’s clothes may get messy (e.g., lunch, recess, etc.).  We advise you to only send your child to school wearing something you are okay with getting messy.  Our PTA would like to start a Hispanic Heritage Committee as a PTA subgroup.  If you are interested in participating or helping in any way, please contact Luz Vasquez at

5. Red Ribbon Week – October 10-12

From our PTA: Next Week (October 10-12), is Red Ribbon Week! It’s a good opportunity to talk to your kids about the importance of choosing now to avoid using drugs. We’ll have activities during lunch recess to reinforce the anti-drug message, and dress up days to help the kids be involved. Watch for a flyer later this week for dress up details!

6. PTA Meeting – Tuesday, October 11

From our PTA: There is a PTA meeting at Canyon Crest next Tuesday, October 11th 10:00-11:00am. We’d like to buy a Pop n Dots soda for all who attend, so watch for a link to place a drink order next Monday! All are welcome to attend.

7. Upcoming Fall Break

A reminder that Fall Break is coming up – October 13-18.  After Fall Break, school will resume for students on Wednesday, October 19 (B Day).
