Come Audition for our School Play!This year we are performing a Musical Revue called Kid Flix: Music from the Movies Kids Love.

Sing and Dance to songs from movies like Moana, Spiderman, Coco, Zootopia, Monster’s Inc, Polar Express and Peanuts! Auditions will be TODAY Sept 6, 3:40-5:30pm, with Callbacks Sept 7, 3:40-5:30pm. Audition Forms and information are in the office, come pick them up and bring them filled out to your grade level’s audition!  Please plan to stay the entire time. Hope to see you there!

3. Panorama School Climate and Social-Emotional Learning Survey

As a reminder, we will be administering the Panorama school climate/social-emotional learning survey to Grades 3-5 on Thursday, September 8.  Please see the attachment to learn more about the survey and read the survey questions.

If you would like to opt your child out of taking the Panorama Social-Emotional Learning Survey, please fill out the Google Form at the link below by Wednesday, September 7 at 12:00pm.  If you have any questions, please contact our facilitator, Deanna Lee ( deannal@provo.edu).

4. Attendance Reminder – School Starts at 8:50am

Please remember that school starts at 8:50am.  Students are expected to be in their seats ready to learn at this time.  Any students who arrive at their class after 8:50am will be documented as tardy.  We understand students may need to miss or be late to school for valid reasons (e.g., doctor appointment, dentist appointment, illness).  For these extenuating circumstances, please work with your child’s teacher(s) and the main office to make academic arrangements and document attendance correctly.  We thank you for your best efforts in getting your child(ren) to school on time.

5. Picture Day Sept 22nd

Picture day is coming up next week Wednesday Sept 22nd.  Students will be given photo flyers on Thursday Sept 15th at the end of the day.  If your student  does not receive a picture flyer, we will have extras in the office. We will start with Kindergarten at 9 am and move up to 6th grade. We do not have set times for each grade, just a start time and an end time. Sibling photos will be from 12:30 pm to 12:45 pm. All photos will be taken in the gym on the stage. If you are paying through the envelope instead of online, remember there is a 7.25% tax that you need to add to your picture prices before you write your check or put cash in the envelope. Tax will be automatically added when you pay online. Make all checks out to Bell Photographers. Information to pay online will go out when we send out the flyers.

6. Update Parent Portal Account Information

Provo City School District is asking that all families access their Parent Portal Account in powerschool to update for the 2022-2023 school year, update the student’s information, review important policies and in order to access a district-provided computer device from our schools this year. If you have not done this step yet please do so BEFORE END OF DAY Friday Sept 30th. If the information is NOT updated students will not be able to use computers here at school until this process is done starting Monday October 1st!

Login, then click on yearly update, then click on registration next to your students name, go through each page and make sure the information is correct. If you need to change something please do the changes then click on save form at the bottom of each page. On one of the pages you will have to type your name and on another page you will have to click yes for the use of computers in school. Just make sure that you click on save form at the bottom of each page. If you have missed something it will let you know, and you will have to go back to fix it to be able to move on. The last page is pink and you will need to type your name and click the completed box then click save form. If nothing has changed it only takes about 5 minutes to complete. If you need to change something it still will only take about 10 minutes to complete. If you cannot remember your username contact us at the school. We can let you know what your username is and change your password for you to get in

7. Handel’s Spirit Day

Canyon Crest Elementary Spirit Day on Sept 7th at Handel’s Ice Cream Shop 1405 S State Street Orem, UT 84097 12 pm to 10 pm 20% of total purchase will be donated to Canyon Crest Elementary. Please see attached flyer for all the information.

9. Author Con 2022

10. After School Classes

Welcome back to a new year of Before/After School programs!  We are still looking for instructors for STEM Science and Art and would love to add a Ukulele class to the line up.  I have also tried to contact BYU about getting Canyon Crest involved in their Underwater Robotics program and will persist in my efforts to bring that class to our after school offerings.  We will add new classes as soon as we are able to staff the positions.  For now, we are going to start with what we have.  Please read the information posted on our After School web page.  Details for the classes we are ready to start are posted there as well as the online enrollment form.  https://canyoncrest.provo.edu/school-information/before-after-school/

Auditions for Drama will be Tuesday (today) and Wednesday after school.  There is a handout in the office with all the details about this year’s production, Kid Flix: Music from the Movies Kids Love.  All registration for Drama will be through Mrs. Dunlap.

4. Recordatorio de asistencia – La escuela comienza a las 8:50am

Por favor, recuerde que la escuela comienza a las 8:50 am.  Se espera que los estudiantes estén en sus asientos listos para aprender a esta hora.  Cualquier estudiante que llegue a su clase después de las 8:50am será documentado como tarde.  Entendemos que los estudiantes pueden necesitar faltar o llegar tarde a la escuela por razones válidas (por ejemplo, cita con el médico, cita con el dentista, enfermedad).  Para estas circunstancias atenuantes, por favor trabaje con el maestro(s) de su hijo(a) y la oficina principal para hacer arreglos académicos y documentar la asistencia correctamente.  Le agradecemos sus esfuerzos para que su(s) hijo(s) llegue(n) a la escuela a tiempo.

5. Día de fotos 22 de septiembre

El día de las fotos se acerca la próxima semana, el miércoles 22 de septiembre.  Los estudiantes recibirán folletos con fotos el jueves 15 de septiembre al final del día.  Si su estudiante no recibe un volante de foto, tendremos extras en la oficina. Empezaremos con el Kindergarten a las 9 de la mañana y avanzaremos hasta el 6º grado. No tenemos horarios fijos para cada grado, solo una hora de inicio y una hora de finalización. Las fotos de los hermanos serán de 12:30 pm a 12:45 pm. Todas las fotos serán tomadas en el gimnasio en el escenario. Si usted está pagando a través del sobre en lugar de en línea, recuerde que hay un impuesto del 7,25% que debe añadir a los precios de las fotos antes de escribir su cheque o poner dinero en efectivo en el sobre. 10. Clases extracurriculares
