Dear Canyon Crest Parents,

November is one of my favorite months of the year. Chilly mornings give way to beautiful afternoons, fall colors are on full display, and holiday celebrations turn our minds towards gratitude and love.

This year has impressed on me how much we have to be grateful for at Canyon Crest. Each classroom is full of students working hard and committing to learning. Our teachers have put in countless hours to create rich learning environments for all of our students, whether they are attending in person classes or participating online. The support staff has cheerfully stepped into new roles this year as we all work together to meet the varied and unique needs of our school this year. The office staff and custodial teams work tirelessly to make our school a safe and inviting place to be. Our paraprofessionals and teachers are teaming closely to identify students’ specific needs and carry out remediation plans. And now more than ever supportive parents and an engaged PTA have been critical to the success of our students.

Buoyed up by these herculean combined efforts, our students are learning and our scores are climbing. We have every reason to be optimistic about what our students will achieve this year. We will be holding informational meetings in the future to share the specifics of the wonderful things happening within these walls.

I encourage everyone to sign-up for a time to connect with your child’s teacher next week during SEPs. The schedule will be as follows:

Wednesday, Nov 4th from 2:00 – 4:00

Thursday, Nov 5th from 2:00 – 7:30

Friday, Nov 6th from 1:00 – 3:30

Adhering to best safety practices, all parent-teacher conferences will be held via Zoom. If your individual circumstances do not allow this, please contact your child’s teacher directly to make alternate arrangements.

My best wishes go out to you all.

Sincerely,

Jayme Gandara
