Our third graders in Mrs. Stone’s class got to do a really fun integration project. There was much going on in their classroom on that day. Don’t forget to check out the pictures below. We sure do love that hands on learning!

This unit was an integration of different subjects and skills :  writing, keyboarding, drawing, drama, technology, storytelling, and collaboration with partners.   Many concepts were taught prior to the unit.  Before the unit, the kids received the schema of writing a narrative story, basic programming skills, basic keyboarding skills, as well as to know how to control the voice’s volume, tone, and pitch for good storytelling .  Students brainstormed with their partners , wrote their ideas on a story map, came up with the basic elements of the story, wrote their story, typed their own story, then planned/drew their story using a storyboard.  Using their story board, they drew their different settings of the story.  Then they programmed the Finch Robot to go along with the story, they then dressed up the Robot as the main character.  They needed to collaborate with their partners on how to program the robot to go with the story.
