Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians,

I am excited to announce that Canyon Crest has received a prestigious distinction from Solution Tree® for being a Promising Practices Professional Learning Community (PLC)* School, specifically for the work we have done as a school the past two (2) school years. Solution Tree® is the leading professional learning organization in K12 education across the country.

There are only 14 total public elementary schools in the State of Utah that have received a PLC distinction from Solution Tree®. Additionally, Canyon Crest is the first and only elementary school in Provo City School District to receive such an honor.

Last week, we celebrated this award with our educators with week-long activities that included pancakes (P), lemon treats (L), and chocolate desserts (C). Get it, PLC? 🙂 – pictures below.

*PLCs are “an ongoing process in which educators work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve” (Solution Tree, 2023). PLCs answer questions about what we want students to learn (objectives), how students will learn (instructional strategies), how we know students are learning (assessment), what we do when students don’t learn (intervention), and what we do when students have already learned (extension).
