Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians,
Please see the following weekly announcements
1. FALL FESTIVAL THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 5:30 – 7:30PM From our PTA: It’s Fall Festival Week! We are so excited for this event and look forward to seeing all of you there! This event is a great opportunity to support the school in a fun and entertaining way. We want to first thank everyone who brought in Silent Auction Gift Basket Items. We were overwhelmed with the support you all showed and were able to make some really amazing auction items!
We encourage you to pre-buy tickets for the event for a smoother check-in process. As a reminder, adults and children 3 and under are FREE. $10 tickets will get your kids access to unlimited games and fun! We will have food/drinks to purchase at the event (e.g., street tacos, hotdogs, nachos, candy, soda pop, water, cotton candy, snow cones, and more). We encourage you to eat at the event, as all money raised will go towards PTA funded activities throughout the year.
Additionally, we encourage you to check out our Silent Auction, we have so many great things this year. All proceeds from this part of the event will go directly to the school’s Supply Budget (e.g., STEM, technology, learning programs, books, and more!).
To purchase your tickets to Fall Festival: https://canyoncrest.givebacks.com/store?limit=21&live=true
*If you still want to donate to the silent auction, it’s never too late! Contact Kassidy directly at 801-830-2779.
2. REFLECTIONS From PTA: Here at Canyon Crest, we participate in the Reflections contest because we see it as a way to celebrate our students and their creativity. We do our best to fully recognize each entry and have seen it build confidence and thoughtful discussion as kids participate.
This year the theme is “Accepting Imperfection” and students can enter in 3-d art, 2-d art, writing, dance, photography, film and music composition. They can even enter in each category if they’d like.
All submissions are turned in online at: https://www.utahpta.org/ref by Friday, October 11.
We will acknowledge and celebrate all the participants at an assembly in November.
***In order to make this year a success, we are in great need of some volunteer judges for the categories. This is something that will take about 20-30 minutes of your time, can be done online, and is honestly a delightful way to see what our kids are making.
You don’t have to be an expert, but just have some knowledge of the medium. We can also accept judges that are friends, family members, even out of state people. Here is the link to sign up: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12_HywSjZurnMZM4aM0SR_S3mqX75xF0P0IcXTFe2KeM/edit?pli=1&gid=0#gid=0
We are so appreciative of your help, as we can’t run this program with you. Thank you and we look forward to seeing what all these kids come up with this year!
3. SAFETY DRILL This Friday, October 4, we will be having a safety drill starting at 9:30am. Students and faculty/staff will be practicing the evacuation protocol.
4. AFTER SCHOOL DRAMA AND PICKLEBALL From our after school program: We are now taking registration for After School Drama and Pickleball classes. 3rd-6th graders are invited to participate in the Drama class which meets Mondays and Wednesdays.
We are offering a Pickleball class for 1st-3rd graders on Mondays and a class for 4th-6th graders on Wednesdays. We have a few inexpensive paddles at the school for the students to use, and students are welcome to bring their own paddles. Class sizes will be limited to the number of paddles we have available.
