National Recognition – Council for Exceptional Children
Canyon Crest Elementary School has received national recognition from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). The CEC is the largest international professional organization dedicated to supporting and improving outcomes for students with disabilities. At Canyon Crest, we have worked hard over the last three school years to refine the Referral to Special Education process, which has included:
- Developing a clear framework for Child Find
- Improving our Student Success Team meetings
- Intentionally involving parents as partners with us in the education of their child
The great success we have had resulted in an invitation from CEC to present to educators, administrators, and lawyers from all across the country at the National Council for Exceptional Children Convention in Baltimore, Maryland this week. Dr. Sean Edwards (Principal) and Ms. Seralina McCormick-Danielson (Special Education Teacher Leader) were grateful for the opportunity to represent Canyon Crest Elementary School and Provo City School District on such a meaningful platform.
Congratulations to all the faculty and staff at Canyon Crest who contribute so meaningfully to the great success of our school and community!
