Canyon Crest Parents & Guardians,

Can you believe it’s already April? This school year has been truly remarkable, and with just two months left, we are committed to finishing strong with high-quality learning experiences and exciting celebrations. Our students continue to embody our school’s theme of “Be Your Best You,” and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication.

April is an important month as our students participate in end-of-year assessments, including RISE testing. These assessments play a vital role in our school community by:

1. Empowering students to “show what they know.” This is their opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they’ve developed throughout the year—what an exciting moment to celebrate their growth!
2. Providing valuable insights for educators. RISE results help us reflect on our instructional practices, ensuring we continue to improve and enhance learning experiences as we plan for the next school year.
3. Serving as our state accountability measure. The State of Utah evaluates elementary schools based on RISE results, and we want to showcase what we already know—Canyon Crest is one of the very best!

As we prepare for RISE testing, you can support your child by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and understand that while the test is important, it should not be a source of stress. We encourage students to simply do their best and embrace a positive mindset. Testing will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with additional time allotted on Thursdays and Fridays for make-ups and extended sessions. Each testing session generally lasts no more than an hour.

• April 22: Choir Concert @ 6:00 PM
• April 25: PTA Color Run @ 5:00 PM
• April 28 – May 2: RISE Testing – Science (4th – 6th Grade)
• May 5 – 9: RISE Testing – Writing (5th Grade)
