Cogat Letter Being Sent to Parents of 4th and 5th Graders
Dear Parents,
The Provo City School District Center for Accelerated Studies (CAS) is an accelerated program for students in 4th, 5th and 6th grades who desire a fast-paced and challenging classroom. CAS offers accelerated programs for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades at two magnet sites: Provo Peaks (Timpview boundaries) and Sunset View (Provo High boundaries).
To be considered for placement in the CAS program, all 3rd grade students took the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) earlier this year. An optional assessment is now being offered for 4th and 5th grade students which will take place in February at each elementary school. If you are interested in having your child participate in this assessment, please contact your child’s teacher no later than Monday, January 30th.
Assessment results will be available on Power School approximately 3 – 4 weeks following the assessment. Students who qualify for placement in CAS will receive invitations as space becomes available in their grade-level class.
