As I visit classrooms, I have been overwhelmingly impressed with our students who are so eager to learn!  Just this last month, I’ve seen students meaningfully engaging in disciplinary writing, focused note-taking, reading to learn, activating peers as learning resources (collaborative learning), project-based and exploratory learning, target language practice, STEM learning, and so much more!

Speaking of STEM learning, we just had our most successful STEM Fair Event on January 26 with over 90 projects prepared and nearly every 4th, 5th, and 6th grade student participating!  We learned about DNA extraction with fruit, the brand of double A batteries that lasts the longest, what kind of salt has the most impressive geode, how a boomwhacker xylophone works, the strongest structure, how pressure affects propulsion, the ball that bounces the highest, the sport that increases heart rate the most, model magnet trains, the shoe that has the most grip on a hardwood floor, why pennies tarnish, the sugar that makes cookies the sweetest, how drag affects flight distance, if birds are picky about what they eat, how to see slime in the dark, engineering a candy vending machine without an electrical motor, how to build and code a robot to play soccer, … and that’s just a few of the many impressive STEM Fair projects!

This month, we are looking forward to the following: -Student, Educator, Parent (SEP) Conferences on February 7, 8, and 9 -PTA Meeting on February 13 -Internet Safety Assembly on February 16 -Spelling Bee on February 23 -Safety Drill on February 23 -Book Fair on February 26, 27, 28, and 29

And, as a reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 19.
