Canyon Crest Parents of Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students,

The intention of this information is to communicate an upcoming adjustment to our Kindergarten and 1st Grade pick-up process and location.

1. Recently, new grass sod has be installed in the front of the school. The sod requires a few days to settle and take root. At this time, we have been asked to keep off the sod to the extent possible.

2. Kindergarten and 1st Grade pick-up will be moved to the front of the school (north end) starting Tuesday, November 5.

3. The image below shows where each class will wait for parents and/or older siblings to come pick them up.

4. Between now and Tuesday, November 5, teachers will be instructing students about the new pick-up location, practicing how to stage/line-up for pick-up, etc. We want to prepare our students for this adjustment.

5. Along with this change, we will be opening up our main parking lot to faculty and staff. Up until this point, our faculty and staff have been parking in the spots to the south of the building and in the church parking lot. Opening up our main parking lot to faculty and staff will reduce the number of parking spots available to visitors and parents. For this reason, we kindly ask that parents pick-up their Kindergarten and 1st Grade children by waiting in and using the east-most (far right) pick-up lane.

6. **Please note: Our construction contractors still plan on installing a concrete cement pad on the north end of our building for bike racks. Depending on when this occurs, we may need to adjust the pick-up process during this brief timeframe if the construction is disruptive enough that it would present safety issues. At this time, we have been informed that they plan to pour the concrete next week sometime (November 4-8). In the world of construction, timelines often change and we will respond accordingly. We will still plan to start this new process on Tuesday, November 5, but may need to adjust at a last-minute notice depending on when the contractors begin this work.

As with any change, sometimes it takes time to settle into a routine. If throughout this process you notice anything we can do to make the situation more efficient and effective, please let us know.

We hope by moving Kindergarten and 1st Grade pick-up to the front of the school, our parents feel supported by not having to park their vehicle, get younger children out of the car, have to cross the pick-up lanes during a busy time, etc. We thank you for your patience throughout the construction challenges this school year.
