Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians,
The intent of this correspondence is to communicate information about our upcoming school STEM Fair. This event provides students the opportunity to conduct a STEM project and present what they learned. We are proud to be a Utah STEM Platinum-designated school! We hope many students will participate in this opportunity.
1. To participate in the STEM Fair, participation forms must be turned in no later than Tuesday, January 14, although we strongly recommend students work on their project much sooner than the paperwork due date. All forms must be turned into our STEM Fair Coordinator, Heather Blinzinger. These forms can be found at the links below or can be obtained by contacting Heather Blinzinger – heatherb@provo.edu.
Participation Form 1 – Although this form has 5th and 6th Grade listed at the top, it must be turned it for ALL STEM Fair participants: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N2rDvDUGHUSba1rYf5MvTwTFx9Z2XX9n/view?usp=sharing
Participation Form 2 – This form must also be submitted for all STEM Fair participants: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e7FQiC-ugFzRecZUeHzF1qrqkFLEQ-Mj/view?usp=sharing
2. Dates of STEM Fair:
- Thursday, January 23, 2:00pm – 2:30pm: JUDGING ONLY – No parent visitors

3. 4th through 6th Grade is requiring every student to participate in completing a project for STEM Fair.
4. To keep students on track, we have prepared a STEM Fair Sign-Off Form (see sign-off form at the link below). Students can win prizes by keeping on track with these recommended deadlines. Please note: The only hard deadline is that the forms/paperwork found above is due no later than Tuesday, January 14 to Heather Blinzinger (heatherb@provo.edu).
Sign-Off Form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13TekI03LSk7GqCAjkVoXeLKarW2CBM7T/view?usp=sharing
*The first sign-off date is Tuesday, November 26. Students need to go to Heather Blinzinger and tell her their question, hypothesis, purpose, and need to get a prize.
5. Per STEM Fair rules, students can do a project individually or can work in groups of no more than three (3).
6. Please note that this year, the students will need to make a trifold presentation. No slideshow presentations will be allowed.
7. If your child needs help knowing what a STEM Fair project could look like, please see the example below:

8. Our school STEM Fair tries to follow Central Utah STEM Fair (CUSF) rules. Their website has a lot of great information and resources. Please note that even though the CUSF website is specific to 5th and 6th grade students, for the purposes of our school, we generally apply the same guidelines for all students that enter into the STEM Fair. Here are some helpful links below:
9. 4th-6th grade teachers will provide their students with some time to work on STEM Fair projects in class. However, students will probably not be able to complete all of their projects during class time, so please plan to support your child with project completion at home.
Let Heather Blinzinger or McKenzie Holden know if you have any questions (heatherb@provo.edu) (mckenzieho@provo.edu).
Best,
Canyon Crest
