Weekly Announcements – 8/21/23 – 9/1/23

Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians,

Please note the following weekly announcements.

  1. Early Release for Grades 1-6 Grades 1-6 will have early release today, Monday, August 21 and tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22 at 1:00pm.  As a reminder, parents are welcome to schedule appointments to meet with teachers between 1:00pm until 4:00pm today and tomorrow, as needed.  The first full-day of school for Grades 1-6 will be on Wednesday, August 23.
  2. Kindergarten Information – Welcome Day, First Day, and Early Release Kindergarten Welcome Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22.  Welcome Day is a short event where Kindergarten students are introduced to their assigned teacher and the classroom.  Kindergarten teachers will be letting parents know what time they are scheduled for Welcome Day. Kindergarten starts on Wednesday, August 23. Kindergarten will have early release on Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24 at 1:00pm.  Parents must pick-up their Kindergarten child at 1:00pm.  There will be no bus for Kindergarten on Wednesday and Thursday.
  3. Food and Nutrition Information Breakfast starts at 8:30am and ends at 8:45am. The price of all meals has increased this school year to $2.25 per meal.
  4. Kindness Club From our social worker, Mr. Blakey: For the Kindness Club this year there will be 2 groups, 1-3 grade and 4-6 grade. 1-3 graders will meet every Monday at 8 AM and 4-6 graders will meet every Wednesday at 8 AM. Everyone is welcome to join by getting a permission slip from the front office and returning it to either the front office or Mr. Blakey. In the Kindness Club, we have lessons, play games, and do activities to help promote kindness at our school. For any questions you can contact Mr. Blakey at  michaelbl@provo.edu or 385-539-9239.   5. SafeUT SafeUT is a smartphone app that features a crisis chat and tip line to provide real-time crisis intervention and support for students and parents/guardians. You can learn more by going to the Safe Utah Website or by watching the video at the following link.  Our school social worker, Michael Blakey, will be speaking with 5th – 6th grade classes about the SafeUT app.  Please let Michael Blakey know if you have any questions ( michaelbl@provo.edu).
  6. Safety Drill We will be having a safety drill (evacuation protocol) on Friday, August 25.  Please help to prepare your child so they can anticipate this drill.
  7. Important Information You can find our bell schedule, odd/even calendar (for DLI students), events calendar, master schedule (which includes grade level specialty classes and lunch/recess times), etc. on our school website.  We encourage you to check our school website often for updates.
  8. School Community Council Self-Nominations As a reminder, self-nominations for School Community Council are due no later than Thursday, August 24.  For more information, go to the School Community Council Participant Openings news post.

Por favor, engan en cuenta los siguientes anuncios semanales.

  1. Salida Temprana para Grados 1-6 Grados 1-6 endrán salida emprana hoy, lunes, 21 de agosto y mañana, martes, 22 de agosto a la 1:00pm. Como recordatorio, los padres son bienvenidos a programar citas para reunirse con los maestros entre 1:00pm y 4:00pm hoy y mañana, según sea necesario. El primer día completo de clases para los grados 1-6 será el miércoles 23 de agosto.
  2. Información de Kindergarten – Día de Bienvenida, Primer Día y Salida Temprana El Día de Bienvenida de Kindergarten es mañana, martes 22 de agosto. El Día de Bienvenida es un evento corto donde los estudiantes de Kindergarten son presentados a su maestra asignada y al salón de clases. Los maestros de Kindergarten estarán informando a los padres a qué hora están programados para el Día de Bienvenida. Kindergarten comienza el miércoles, 23 de agosto. Kindergarten endrá salida emprana el miércoles, 23 de agosto y el jueves, 24 de agosto a la 1:00pm. Los padres deben recoger a su niño de Kindergarten a la 1:00pm. No habrá autobús para Kindergarten el miércoles y el jueves.
  3. Información sobre alimentación y nutrición El desayuno comienza a las 8:30am y ermina a las 8:45am. El precio de odas las comidas ha aumentado este año escolar a 2,25$ por comida.
  4. Club de la Bondad De nuestro rabajador social, el Sr. Blakey: Para el Kindness Club este año habrá 2 grupos, 1-3 grado y 4-6 grado. Los de 1-3 grado se reunirán odos los lunes a las 8 AM y los de 4-6 grado se reunirán odos los miércoles a las 8 AM. Todos son bienvenidos a unirse obteniendo una hoja de permiso de la oficina y devolviéndola a la oficina o al Sr. Blakey. En el Club de la Bondad, enemos lecciones, jugamos juegos, y hacemos actividades para ayudar a promover la bondad en nuestra escuela. SafeUT SafeUT es una aplicación para eléfonos inteligentes que cuenta con un chat de crisis y una línea de consejos para proporcionar intervención en crisis en iempo real y apoyo para estudiantes y padres/tutores. Puede obtener más información visitando el sitio web de Safe Utah o viendo el vídeo en el siguiente enlace. Información Importante Puede encontrar nuestro horario de imbres, calendario par/impar (para alumnos DLI), calendario de eventos, horario maestro (que incluye clases de especialidad por grado y horarios de almuerzo/recreo), etc. en nuestro sitio web escolar.
