Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians, Please note the following weekly announcements. 

1. PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES  

Parent Teacher Conferences are this week! Please look for a follow up email with details on how to sign up! 

• Wednesday, February 7 from 2:00pm – 6:00pm (STUDENTS RELEASED AT 1:30pm)
• Thursday, February 8 from 2:00pm – 7:00pm (STUDENTS RELEASED AT 1:30pm)
• Friday, February 9 from 2:10pm – 3:30pm (STUDENTS RELEASED AT 1:50pm)

2. ATTENDANCE

We are encouraging our students to get to school on time. For the month of January, every grade level had less than 90% on-time attendance. We value the importance of teaching our students punctuality. We kindly ask that you support us with getting your child to school on time. 

3. PTA MEETING

PTA will be meeting Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00am in Room 19. 

4. INTERNET SAFETY ASSEMBLY

We will be having an Internet Safety Assembly on Friday, February 16th. 

5. SPELLING BEE

Grade 1 – 6 will be having their classroom spelling bees by Friday, February 9. Lists for the classroom winners will be sent home with them on Friday, February 9th and parents will be notified that day as well. 

The winners of each class in Grades 3 – 6 will move onto the school wide spelling bee which will be held on Friday, February 23rd. 

6. WHITE RIBBON WEEK

Next week is White Ribbon (Internet Safety) Week. 

Here are the dress up days for next week:  Monday Feb 12–Dress Well, Test Well–Dress Your Best! Tuesday Feb 13–Post & Play Like a Rockstar: Dress Like a Rockstar Wednesday Feb 14–Be Internet Kind: Wear Red or Pink Thursday Feb 15– Be Online Vigilant: Dress Like A Super Villain Friday Feb 16–ROAR Online (Respect, Ownership, Attitude, and Responsibility): Wear School T-shirt or Blue and Green Canyon Crest Colors

As parents, it is important that we support media literacy and internet safety for our children. Our PTA presidency recently came across an article illustrating the urgency for us to equip our children with these skills now. Please see the link to the article:

7. STEM NIGHT VOLUNTEERS

We are in the beginning stages of planning out annual STEM Night. The event is on March 26th. If you are interested in being a presenter that evening please let us know. 

8. CHOIR FESTIVAL
