Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians,
Please note the following weekly announcements.
1. HALLOWEEN INFORMATION Thursday, October 31 will be our Canyon Crest Halloween celebration. The Halloween Parade will start at 1:45pm. Parents can observe the parade from the outside perimeter of the school building. The best area to space out and view the parade is on the east side of the building (back of the school).
Classroom Halloween celebrations will be from 2:15pm – 3:15pm (leaving time for clean-up before the day ends). Room parent volunteers, please coordinate with teachers and other parent volunteers on classroom celebration activities. Any volunteers must have a valid photo ID in order to gain entrance to the building.
Please remember that costume masks and weapons (including fakes and replicas) are not permitted. Additionally, students will still be learning on October 31 and costumes must not disrupt the learning environment.
2. PICTURE RETAKE DAY Picture retake day is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29. To purchase a package please see the flyer below.
3. CELEBRATING DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS From our PTA: This week, many Latin American countries celebrate Día De Los Muertos, a week-long celebration that honors loved ones in a variety of ways. One of the most widely recognized traditions includes creating an ofrenda (altar) in remembrance of those who have passed.
Our PTA is creating an ofrenda that will be located in the library. Additionally, there will be two lunchtime activities this week to introduce students to this holiday and its significance.
We encourage you to talk with your children this week about loved ones who have passed. Below is a printout for your children if they would like to draw and add recognition of a loved one to our school ofrenda. Please avoid sending anything that you cannot part with such as original copies of family photos.
4. VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY Our Veterans Day Assembly will be on Friday, November 8 starting at 9:30am. You are welcome to invite veterans to attend and enjoy the program our students have prepared. There will be two musical numbers. If you invite a veteran to attend, please make sure the veteran knows to bring a valid photo ID to scan for check-in.
If you and/or a veteran plan to attend the program, please RSVP by Wednesday, November 6 by emailing our administrative assistant, Sheliah Saluone, at sheliahs@provo.edu.
Additionally, whether or not you or a veteran can attend our program, please send photos of veterans that have a familial relation to your child to Sheliah Saluone at sheliahs@provo.edu by Wednesday, November 6. We would like to show pictures of veterans during the program and honor them even if not able to attend.
