Please see the video announcements from Dr. Edwards for the week of November...
Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians,
Please note the following announcements.
We will have a school fundraiser this Wednesday, March 1 at R&R BBQ at 4801 N University Ave. #490, Provo, UT 84601 from 4:00pm – 8:30pm. Please make sure you have the attached flyer with you. We will send flyers home with students on Wednesday March 1st. Up to 20% of your purchase will be donated back to Canyon Crest. We hope to see you there!
We are excited to announce our Book Fair started this morning February 27 – March 2! Students who choose their own books are empowered to become bolder, prouder, and stronger Readers. In addition, every book purchased supports and gives money back to our school. In the past, funds generated from the Book Fair have been used to purchase books for our library collection.
We invite you and your child to engage in the following Book Fair special events:
Event Name: Parents and Pastries
Event Date and Times: Tuesday, February 28 from 7:45am – 8:30am (before school only)
Event Details: Parents and students are invited to come to the Book Fair. You can purchase a book, enjoy a pastry, and read a book together in our gym before school starts. If you do not want to purchase a book from the Book Fair, please consider bringing a book from home that you can read with your child in the gym (and enjoy a pastry).
Event Name: Grand Event
Event Date and Times: Thursday, March 2 from 3:30pm – 5:30pm (after school only)
Event Details: Students are invited to bring a “grand” person in their lives to Canyon Crest to participate in one or more of the following activities.
-Attend the book fair together and find a book to purchase. Then, bring the book to the Canyon Crest gym and read together.
-Bring a book from home and go to the Canyon Crest gym to read together.
The “grand” person should be someone your child knows well (e.g., grandparent, parent, aunt/uncle, older adult sibling, family friend/neighbor, or other adult advocate).
Light refreshments will be provided in the gym.
This morning, our students learned how to show ROAR behaviors at pick-up and drop-off. We wanted to make sure parents had this information, as well. If you can please help to keep our students safe by reinforcing these ROAR behaviors, that would be much appreciated.
We are excited to announce that our STEM Night Event will be on Tuesday, March 21 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. We are looking for some parent volunteers to present a short STEM presentation, activity, or workshop. The presentation does not need to be anything extravagant or fancy. In the past, presenters have taught students how to make paper rockets and showed students how to make static electricity. The presentation could be 5-10 minutes – you could do the presentation in a loop during the event because students will freely rotate in and out of presentations throughout the event. We are happy to provide you an Amazon gift card for your participation and time. We will also provide dinner. We also have a small budget that can help with purchasing supplies. If someone you know may be interested, please send this information to them.
If you are interested, please complete the Google Form by this Friday, February 24. Let our STEM Night Coordinator, Deanna Lee, know if you have any questions ( deannal@provo.edu).
The Provo City School District Foundation holds a yearly auction to raise funds to help the district provide academic support in extended-day programs for our students. These programs include summer school, after school programs, and all day kindergarten to name a few.
We had a successful auction in 2022 and want to keep that momentum going into this year. The date for this year’s auction is March 27, 2023.
We are looking for any donations that can be auctioned off at the upcoming event. We invite you to provide a donation if you feel comfortable and are interested. Please share this information with others who may be interested, including local businesses. Optional donations may include:
-Tickets to plays
-Tickets to concerts
-Tickets to sporting events
-Hunting and fishing trips
-Golf sessions
-Soccer training sessions
-Entry fee attractions (national Parks Passes, FastKart, etc.)
-Vacation homes or Airbnb spaces
-Gift cards (for restaurants)
-Software subscription services
-Computer or phone repair services
-Orthodontic braces
-Tutoring sessions (languages, math, reading, general homework)

All donations are tax deductible as the Foundation is a 501c3 organization.
If you would like to make a donation or have any questions, please contact Tiffany McCloud ( tiffanymc@provo.edu). You can also contact the school at (801) 221-9873. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
We would like to have any donated items/baskets brought to Canyon Crest by Friday, March 3, 2023. This will allow us some time to get the items to the district office.
Please ensure your child is prepared for cold temperatures and inclement weather. Students will participate in outside recess if it is above 20 degrees.
Please let Tiffany McCloud know if you have any questions ( tiffanymc@provo.edu). Replies to this email will automatically be directed to her.
Best,
Canyon Crest
