1. Weather Conditions/Prepared for Weather Outside Recess

With this week continuing to be bad weather conditions, please plan ahead. Please leave earlier in the mornings to arrive safely at school on time. We would also ask that you leave earlier to pick your students up as it may take more time to get here and through the pick up line safely. Make sure your student is prepared for the weather. Make sure they have everything they will need to be outside for recess. If they need gloves, hats, coats, snow boots, etc, please make sure they bring it with them to school. If you have any questions please contact the school.

2. After School Programs

Our After School programs will resume Monday, January 23rd. We have lost some of our instructors and are looking for a new art and sports teacher.  In the meantime, we will plan on your children attending the same classes they were in before unless you inform us otherwise.  We will also send out another  email with a link to the registration form when we have finalized details for all of our classes. 3. Ski School

Ski School  this Friday January 20th. Please drop off your students’ equipment to the Orchestra room near the gym Friday morning BEFORE school. Students will get ready in the gym after they eat lunch. Students will get ready between 12 -12:30 pm in the gym. 2nd, 4th & 5th grade students will have lunch at 11:50 am and then get ready after they eat. We will load the buses at 12:30 pm. Leave the school no later than 12:45 pm. Lessons start at 1:30 pm and finish at 4 pm. Kids will have free skiing for 20 minutes. We will load buses and leave at 4:40pm and  be back to school at 5:00pm. Students will need to take all belongings with them on the bus because they will not have access to the school when they get back.

4. UVU Stronger Families Project

The UVU Stronger Families Project is an educational, family-based program one night a week for 8 weeks. Using an evidence-based, nationally-recognized curriculum, we teach both parents and children how to improve their interaction and emotional patterns within the family. This program is completely free to families. In both family and individual classes, participants will learn about and discuss strategies to implement the following topics:  

• Family Values
• Family Rules
• Problem solving
• Communication Skills
• Family meetings
• Rituals and Routines
• One-on-one time
• Interpersonal relationships
• Community and Family support systems

Research on our program demonstrates improved parenting skills and family relationships, a reduction in problem behaviors, and improved social competencies and school performance. Under the leadership of UVU Family Science faculty, UVU student interns implement the program in multiple locations across Utah County. More information attached in the flyers below.
