Is your child sick and you aren’t sure if you should send them to school or not? Check out these tips on how to tell if they are too sick for school.
SYMPTOM:
COUGH AND OTHER COLD SYMPTOMS
Stay Home If—Your child feels too sick for regular activities Go Back to School After—Fever decreases and your child feels better
EYE DISCHARGE
Stay Home If—Yellow or Green Pus Appears Go Back to School After—The amount of pus decreases, using antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours
FEVER
Stay Home If—The temperature on an oral thermometer reads 100º F or higher (100.4 for an ear, rectal, or forehead temp) Go Back to School After—Body temperature reaches normal
FLU
Stay Home If—You suspect flu—it spreads rapidly Go Back to School After—Fever has been gone for 24 hours
HEADACHE
Stay Home If—Your child has a migraine—throbbing, severe . pain with moodiness, fatigue and sensitivity to light Go Back to School After—Taking pain medication
RASH
Stay Home If—Redness and itchiness affect all or most of your child’s body Go Back to School After—The rash is gone or the doctor gives the OK
SORE THROAT
Stay Home If—Your doctor suspects—or diagnoses—strep throat Go Back to School After—24 hours after taking antibiotics
STOMACH ACHE
Stay Home If—Your child is vomiting or has uncontrollable diarrhea Go Back to School After—Vomiting stops and your child has control of bathroom breaks
