Going back to school often means more exposure to germs. When it comes to teaching your kids how to stop the spread of illness at school (and home), you can never start too early. Here are some easy ways kids can protect themselves and others:

Handwashing:

Encourage kids to wash their hands with soap and water regularly, or to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Vaccination:

Make sure your kids are up-to-date on vaccinations to protect them from illnesses like the flu.

Cough & sneeze etiquette:

Show your child how to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue, or cough or sneeze into their elbow.

Sick days:

For the safety of others at school and a quicker recovery for your kids, keep them home from school while they’re sick.

Education:

Teach your kids how germs spread! Explain how computers and keyboards, doorknobs, drinking fountains, and other areas are hotbeds for germs. Then model washing your hands!
