Dear Canyon Crest Families,

We hope this message finds you and your family well and happy during this critical period of COVID-19.  We so much appreciate our families taking over the task of teaching your children literacy, science, and math (not to mention a foreign language for some) that are so critical to students’ learning and education. Our school staff understands the challenges that can come with teaching children (sometimes especially your own!), and are available to help support families in any way we can. We have considered the feedback we have received from parents, and teachers have adjusted their daily expectations and requirements to fit family needs. Thank you for keeping the communication line open with us. In continuing to help meet family needs, we have sent out a short survey for parents to complete to give us direction over the next few weeks. Thank you for taking the time to inform us of how things are going with online learning for your child.

Our teachers, bless their hearts, are continuing with our Code.org training, but doing much of it online this month. We appreciate them for being willing to continue their own learning along with all they are doing to help students. They are committed to our goal of becoming a strong STEM school!

We wish everyone a wonderful Spring Break! During this time we expect both families and teachers to TAKE A BREAK from the “normal” school routine. Teachers are not expected to give assignments at this time, nor are students required to complete schoolwork. However, during this trying time when most families are homebound, we have made a list of some fun activities that children can do at home if they would like. Please understand that these activities are only suggestions, and NOT REQUIRED for students to do or complete. The list can be found on our web page.

Please know how much we love and appreciate all our Canyon Crest students! We miss them and appreciate their love of learning and willingness to do hard things! This unique time in our history is requiring a lot of all of us in many different ways, and our number one concern is the health and safety of our community. Please let us know if we can support in any way. We will continue checking in on our students and families. Please know that this is only out of the concern and love we have for all of you. Our hope is that the weather remains beautiful throughout Spring Break and everyone can get a little sunshine and a little more family time together. 😉

We have created a “Picture Parade” for our students to enjoy during Spring Break and let them know how much they mean to us. Please encourage them to get on and view it if they haven’t already done so! We are available by school email or phone throughout the month of April.
