Canyon Crest Parents/Guardians, As the leaves change colors and the temperatures cool, I am reminded that we are now in the full-swing of school! I enjoy walking around the halls, peaking into...
Dear Canyon Crest Families,
WHERE DID THE SNOW GO? I guess we won’t be having to worry too much about Snow Days this season! I am so grateful that we have been able to keep schools open in the district and that our students and families are faring well through this continued pandemic. Thank you to all of you for your support and diligence in helping keep our students on top of their learning as much as possible.
Our SEP Parent/Teacher Conferences are upon us! Please, please, please go to the SEP sign-up document and schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher. We always think face-to-face conferences are the best, but we have some alternatives (such as Zoom or home visits) to be able to reach parents of all of our students. Teachers are eager to share your child’s successes, and we want to visit about how we can help support your child if there are gaps in their learning. Please plan on touching bases with your child’s teacher(s) this week, if at all possible.
My heart breaks as I am announcing my retirement at the end of this year. I have been in this wonderful profession for close to forty years and I wish I had another forty years to give! My family and I have decided it is time to “play” a little bit, and we have been preparing for this time over the past couple of years. But it isn’t any easier! As with any profession, there may have been a few pebbles down the road of my career, but I can honestly say there hasn’t been a day I haven’t been happy to come to work. The students, teachers, parents, and district colleagues throughout the years I can say have become family. And it’s hard to leave “home”. So, thank you, THANK YOU, for making this teacher/principal (and everything in between!) happy to come to work each day. Working with these young children, and seeing them grow up to be productive citizens and parents is my ‘magnum opus’. Thank you for all your support and friendship over these many years.
We still have plenty of work to do before the end of the school year. (And I will be here to the end!) Teachers and students are working diligently to fill gaps due to absences from illness, and challenge these young minds, and we have lots of great things to come to school and participate in. I love seeing the students come in each day with big smiles on their faces – even on Mondays! They give us energy and happiness to be here with them.
We look forward to the next four months of learning! Remember our community dinner at Kneaders on Wednesday, February 9th from 5:00-8:00. Student work will be displayed at the bakery that evening, as well. Hope you can join us!
Have a HAPPY FEBRUARY!!
