Principal and Facilitator’s Message September – October
Happy Fall to all of our Canyon Crest Community! We have enjoyed a successful start to our school year! The students have been engaging in so many wonderful learning experiences and activities. We have implemented many new and exciting things to share already. Our mixed specialty classes and STEM groups are working well and allowing Traditional and DLI students to spend interactive time together. Our A/B days for DLI classes are allowing for more equal time in English and Spanish. Our Hope Squad, Student Council, and Kindness Club are going strong! We have created a new Welcome Room for students who need a minute to relax and process through their feelings for any reason.
We are looking forward to our STEM Night on Thursday, October 7th! We are so thankful to all of our volunteers who have made this night possible. We will have over 25 engaging hands-on STEM activities for students and families to explore. We take pride in our STEM focus at Canyon Crest as we are working hard this year to become a STEM designated school. Our STEM Night will be a kick-off to get students excited to participate in the school STEM Fair on January 21st. STEM Fair information and registration will be available at STEM Night!
During the month of October, we will be starting to acknowledge our students of the month. We will also hold a virtual recognition assembly to recognize students, staff, and volunteers for their accomplishments and good choices. During this assembly we will celebrate who we are as Canyon Crest Cubs and the core values we embrace at our school! Also in October we look forward to Red Ribbon Week and our Halloween Parade. Please check your weekly emails for more details about all of our upcoming events!
It has been so wonderful to have parents, families, and volunteers back in the building this year. We thank everyone for the time, effort, and care they give in so many different ways to our students and school community. A big thank you to Ariela Padilla for coordinating a fun and memorable Fall Festival and to all who volunteered, attended, and supported this event! Canyon Crest is an exciting place to be as families and school staff partner together to help our students grow and experience success. I could not be more thrilled to work with the amazing students, staff and families as the facilitator at Canyon Crest. I have enjoyed getting to know many of you and look forward to continuing to get to know you all!
