January 2021

Dear Canyon Crest Parents,

Welcome back to the new year! I wish each of you a joyful start to 2021.

As we celebrate a new year, it is always good to look forward to our hopes for the future. Here at Canyon Crest, we are committed to realizing our goal of helping every student grow to their fullest potential. I assure you that our dedication to student achievement remains strong as we begin our second half of the school year.

The tireless efforts of our teachers, support staff, and parents have resulted in fantastic amounts of progress in our students. We are currently in the midst of mid-year benchmark testing for reading and mathematics, and the results so far are very encouraging. More specific information will be shared when testing is complete. Stay tuned! Additionally, please take the time to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss his/her individual progress and goals during our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences from February 3rd – 5th. Sign-ups for these conferences will go out via email toward the end of January.

Thank you to our students who participated in the Principal’s Reading Challenge over winter break. We had a record number of students reading a truly tremendous amount of books in December! Upcoming events include the Spelling Bee and the new virtual STEM Fair. Information on these will be sent out through teachers. There will be no school on Monday, January 18th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day.

As always, thank you for all you do to make Canyon Crest, and the students we teach, such a success. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact a teacher, Mrs. Cunningham, or me directly. We are all a team, working together to provide the best possible education for your child.

Yours,

Jayme Gandara
