Welcome to November! We have so many things to be grateful for here at Canyon Crest. Above all, we all have each other: wonderful students, teachers and staff, parents and community. There is great learning going on here at school due to everyone’s efforts!

This first week in November we have SEPs (Student Education Plans) on Sept. 3rd-5th, in which parents meet with teachers to learn what progress their child has made during the first term, and areas of needed support. We hope that every child will be represented by a parent or guardian. If you are not able to make one of the scheduled appointments, please contact your child’s teacher for an alternate date to meet. If you have not yet done so, please schedule an appointment for SEPs at https://www.canyoncreeksoftware.com/scheduler/ut/provo/.

Our Jr. Achievement program will be up and running beginning this month! We are so thrilled to finally be presenting this exciting business and economic information to our students. Our presenters will be training on November 10th; anyone interested in the program or being a presenter is welcome to attend. Our first classes will be taught during the month of November, and other classes will get their presentations throughout the remainder of the school year. Yay, Jr. Achievement, and thank you to wonderful Sally Burningham for taking charge of our parent volunteers!

November 11th is Veteran’s Day! We wish to honor the Veterans in your children’s lives, and look forward to sending out our virtual Veteran’s Day Recognition in their honor. Unfortunately, we will not be able to do this in person due to continued Covid concerns, but we are working to put together a nice electronic tribute in our Veterans’ honor. If you have a Veteran you would like to honor, please visit our school website for further information.

Our Reflections assemblies will take place, by grade levels, on November 22nd. Thank you to all our students who participated, and all our parents and teachers who encouraged our students to share their talents and love of the arts. Our theme, “I Will Change the World by . . .” is such a powerful talking point with our children. They are, of course, our future, and our future is bright with these wonderful students at the helm!

We want to thank our Facilitator, Des Olsen, for taking charge of our Recognition Assemblies that we will be holding each month. Our next assembly will be on November 19th at 9:00 am. via Zoom. Be sure to look for our Students of the Month bulletin board in our front entry. It’s so fun to recognize these wonderful children and see their smiling faces as we walk in to the school each day!

A warm welcome to our new fourth grade teacher, Maestra Tanner. She was up and running with her classes without skipping a beat! Kari Tanner comes to us from Arlington, MA where she taught Spanish. She graduated from BYU, and has a post graduate degree from Boston University. She is a welcome member of our Canyon Crest faculty!

We wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving season. We are grateful to you and thank you for sharing the opportunity of working with your children. They make us want to come to work each day!
